How to Make a Traslation
Read Wikipedia TipsFor now, see the Wikipedia:How_to_edit_a_page for some good general tips, advice, and community conventions. Page naming conventionPage naming: for the translated version of a page, use the same name for the page, and simply add the RFC 3066 language identifier code as a dash suffix. E.g. for the French version, Main_Page becomes Main_Page/fr, and Skills becomes Skills/fr. Note: The english version don´t need the /en tag Pages To Start WithYou may want to start with this page, and also a good point to start could be the Main_Page. Next is good to update all the links on the Main_Page before to make different new pages, this way is much easier to keep in sync with the English versions. To start editing a page in your language, the best way is going into your translated Main_Page and select a red link on the menu. This will create the new page with the correct name and you can start editing. Remember to read all this document before start editing. Thanks! LinksBecause of the naming convention the name for the page will always stay on english. We will set the links to the translate content matching the english name, but changing the link text. You can check how to make links with the spanish transation of the Main_Page. Example: I can set a link to the french Main Page (Main_Page/fr) but it will show Page principale on the text. You must type something like this: Page Principale An this is how it will show: Page Principale Note: The english version don´t need the /en tag Another example about links: Linking within a pageI think it works like this: Here is a link what the user will see. Example: It is important that your strikers have a lot of Offensive Positioning (OP). Resulting in: It is important that your strikers have a lot of Offensive Positioning (OP). Yay! it worked! NOTE: Remember to made links into existing pages. BASICS ON EACH NEW PAGEThe title. The #Languages Template on top and bottom. The #Translate or #Incomplete code.
TitlesAnother important thing to keep is make a first line in the new page with the title of the page in your languages. That will help the search index to find whatever you need. The title must be inside TITLE TO USE IN THE PAGE tags.
TranslateWhen you started a web page but you didn´t finished you can put this template on it. translate
This template shows this text on the page: This Page needs your help to finish translate. Thanks.
IncompleteUse this code to mark that a page need to be finished. Incomplete
This template shows this text on the page: This Page is Incomplete. Thanks.
CommentsIn the Main_Page you will see comments when you edit the page. It is good to keep them to organize the content. You can set a comment with this code: <-- This is a comment. Only view in edit mode--> Languages TemplateImportant! In each new page you create in your language you must locate this code at the bottom (or top) of the page. This is to create the Languages bar. <!--- Languages--->
NAME_OF_THE_PAGE
Be careful to change the pagename if you copy this code from here. WatchlistYou can use the my watchlist feature (use it to watch the pages you've translated for changes). RulesTry to be as objective as possible when you write a new article. Please don't sabotage. We use the same rules that you know to publish in the Freekick Forums to make a new page here. Ready! Now you are ready to edit! Thank you very much and good luck in your next game!
